Anubis had many duties through the long history of Egypt. He was the Guide of souls to the underworld, the Embalmer of bodies, the weigh-er of hearts, and the protector of tombs. Anubus is either portrayed by a Jackal headed human, or in full jackal body. He is depicted more than any other god on the walls of the various tombs throughout all the dynasties.
